Welcome back to the PCBWay website exploration. In this video, we’ll introduce to you the PCB assembly ordering process step by step. You can get the assembly quotation either from the PCB quote page or the assembly quote page. Today, we will mainly go through the assembly quote page for the detailed ordering process. Now let’s get started!

According to your design file and customization requirements, you first need to select the relative parameters concerning the mode of supplying components, board type, assembly side, and PCB quantities for assembly. At the same time, you need to check whether the BOM file contains sensitive components. If it does, you need to write down the part number and precaution in the blank.
For assembly, you need to provide the number of unique parts, the number of SMD parts, BGA/QFP parts, and through-hole parts. Let's take an example of how to calculate the number of unique parts.

If one BOM has 15 different part numbers, then the number of unique parts is 15. For the other number of parts, you should also fill in according to your BOM file. These numbers can help you get an estimated assembly cost, but if you are not clear about the numbers you can leave them blank as long as you upload the correct BOM file. Moreover, you can click “Additional Options” to get more customized services such as depanel the boards to delivery and conformal coating, etc.
After selecting all the parameters for assembly, some customers may directly save the order to the cart and wait for payment, while they forget the step to associate a PCB with the assembly order. There are two ways to associate the PCB order.
If you have uploaded a PCB inquiry or paid for a PCB order, you only need to select the order number here and PCBWay will use the selected PCB to do the assembly.
Through this method, you should scroll down to the bottom of the page to set parameters for your PCBs. After you have determined all the parameters, click the "Calculate" button to get the quotation. Now you will save it to the cart. We need to remind you that the assembly cost on the right side of the page is just an estimated price for assembly only. And it doesn’t include components cost.
Next, you are ready to upload your Gerber file, BOM file, and Centroid file. If you are unclear about the format of the files, you can check the template files.

Then click “submit order now” for review. Even if you click “skip”, you could still upload files in your order list. When the review is done, you can see the final price displayed on your shopping cart and also your sales representative should send an email to you with the full quotation including the quoted BOM file. Then you could proceed with payment after confirming the quotation.
