Digital Hygrometer

I was unsatisfied with current digital hygrometers on the market, in regards to pipe tobacco and cigar humidors. Most of them, while they worked fine, tended to either be cheap ($15-$25USD) and inaccurate, or expensive ($75USD) and somewhat more accurate. I decided that I would set out to design and build my own, for a much more reasonable price that were just as accurate as the expensive ones. Luckily, with the availability of Arduino and other small electronics project tools that make homemade electronics accessible, I was able to build out and design my hygrometer. These first images are of the first PCB revision I designed; it has a bit of tweaking to do, as I did overlook a pretty major flaw in my design (to be corrected in rev. 2.0), but I received these boards from pcbway.com and found them to be of exceptional quality, and shipping was extremely fast. Though I cannot use them due to my own mistake in design, I am extremely pleased with the overall quality of the board, and look forward to resubmitting my PCB revision to them, and receiving the boards that should work as planned. Thank you pcbway.com for everything, this side project of mine wouldn't have been possible if I wasn't able to use your skills in manufacturing PCB.

Step 1: Board

This is the main board. Upon it, my 16x2 character LCD screen will be attached, with an Arduino Nano(in this case, though I have designs for oher Arduinos) directly behind the screen. On the back side, I have a resistor (two in the next revision, one for the screen and one for my data input), a potentiometer to adjust the screen, and my DHT11 humidity and temperature sensor. 

 

I have custom code that I load onto the board, so that when everything is wired together, I am able to receive the input from the sensor and output the results upon my LCD screen.
