Bakeneko 65 Case

Case for the Bakeneko 65 keyboard designed by Koichi Katano. The machining on this case is within my expectations. It's not flawless, but it does not disappoint me. For whatever reason, the edge of the case right above the cutout for the USB port was not chamfered like it was supposed to be; the edge was still broken, so it is not sharp. The piece is dimensionally accurate and serves its purpose flawlessly. Where things get less good is with the surface finish. The bead blasting is rather coarse; I do not mind it, but some others I've shown the case to think it should be done with a finer media. Externally it is very consistent, but on the inside of the case there are still some machining marks visible. On the right side of the inside of the case there is a rather large scratch. It is only barely visible when the keyboard is assembled. The top of the front bezel has a small pit/dent on it. Neither of these bother me too much, but from what I have seen from other keyboard cases machined by PCBWay they are both common issues, with each one I've seen having at least one scratch. My biggest concern, and the only one that truly bothered me, was the disregard for my choice of anodization color. I requested a custom color, Pantone 2092 C, which is a light violet. As the pictures reveal, the board I received is a very dark, desaturated green. I'd be foolish to expect a perfect color match for a one-off piece costing less than $150 USD, but it isn't a matter of it being a few shades too dark, or slightly too blue, etc. Dark green and light violet are not even comparable. Again, I am not the only one to experience this; Koichi Katano himself ordered a case with red anodization and received one with clear anodization. Had PCBWay contacted me and said "hey, we can't do custom colors for such a low-volume order" and let me choose a more common color so that they could add my order to a larger batch of the same color, I would have preferred that.
